The thing most needed by mankind for life in this world to live a life is sustenance. Ibn al-Jawzi said in the Holy Quran that provision includes ten items.
First, is the provision (Surah al-Baqarah: 3).
Second, the food (Surah al-Baqara: 25).
Third, in the form of lunch and dinner (Surah Maryam: 62).
Fourth, the rain (Surah al-Jatsiyah: 5).
Fifth, the sustenance (Surah al-Baqarah: 233).
Sixth, fruits (Surah Ali Imran: 37).
Seventh, the reward (Surah al-Mu’min: 40).
Eighth, ‘heaven’ (Surah Thaaha: 131).
Ninth, crops and livestock (Surah Yunus: 59).
Tenth, ‘gratefull’ alias reply (Surah al-Waqi’ah: 82)
If we investigate it further, the problem of sustenance in the Qur’an will be more than ten things. However, from here we can understand clearly that the true Allah is the best giver of sustenance (Surah al-Jumu’ah : 11).
Because the dimensions, scope, and the provision is so broad, it is clear there can be no human figure who is able to take care of sustenance. Only Allah can set and therefore guarantee the sustenance of any of His created beings.
Therefore, it makes no sense if there are people in his life ravaged outstanding concerns regarding the sustenance of life, so that in the name of seeking sustenance debasing themselves in tyranny and ignorance. Prophet Muhammad said, “Indeed sustenance that will be searched by a man as he is wanted by his death.” (Ibn Hibban).
However, it does not mean that Muslims should sit back or justified. Therefore, the Prophet and his companions are not human figure leaning sustenance in a passive way. On the contrary, they are very proactive. Rasulullah SAW said, “Strive to get what is beneficial to you and ask to Allah, do not be weak.” (Muslim).
And, as recorded in the history, the companions of the Prophet Muhammad, working with the gardening, trade, and raise livestock. Those who trade sails the oceans to the land and one country to another. There is hard work mental to obtain sustenance. Mental is the Messenger of love, so that a time Prophet kissing the hand of a Muslim who picked his food by splitting a rock.
In this case we should contemplate poem composed by Jalaluddin Rumi. “It is Correct. If tawakkal demanded their argument, then the work is the Sunnah of His Prophet. Grateful and deed in trust in the draw so that you become a lover of God. Cried the Prophet and His Messenger; Tie the camel, then leave it to Him. I also heard the news: the movement of workers loved his Lord. Do not make your tawakkal makes make you sagging in finding your sustenance. ”
Thus, let’s start a new chapter in terms of sustenance. Never worry about quantity of sustenance we receive. But worry about whether lawful or unlawful sustenance that we seek. Because, everyone knows that the provision should be picked up by the sweat of tired. Thus, it is a pity if not end with blessings and fruitful of Jannah.
