JAKARTA. The Coordinator of Marine Affairs Ministry officially released 75 youths from Jakarta area to follow the 2017 Nusantara Jaya Expedition (ENJ) in Kepulauan Seribu region. On Nusantara Jaya Expedition this time, as many as 10 volunteers of Rumah Zakat participated to support the children’s shoes program and Superqurban corned.
The release was conducted at the port of Sunda Kelapa on Monday (28/08) by Suhendar as Head of Technical Training Division of Marine Affairs Ministry, representing Deputy of Human Resources, Science and Technology and Maritime Culture.
“ENJ’s activity is one of the government’s programs to build the maritime culture of Indonesia’s young generation. Marine Affairs Ministry invites youths to do shipping expeditions using folk craft, pioneer voyages and KRI Dewaruci. By feeling the voyage and living in the islands of the forefront, interacting with the community, it is expected that this young generation will build a maritime soul, “said Suhendar in an interview after the release of Team ENJ DKI Jakarta.
Jakarta ENJ team is divided into 3 groups of missions, namely; Team 1 is on mission at Panggang Island, Team 2 is on mission at Pari Island and Team 3 is on mission at Untung Jawa Island. Each group will conduct an activity program according to the proposal submitted to Marine Affairs Ministry.
“The activities will include education for elementary school children in the local area, skills for communities around the island, health, environmental and other maintenance,” The team is a Jakarta Region Team, however participants who participated not only from the area of DKI Jakarta. A number of participants also came from other provinces and cities such as Lampung, Bandung, Tasikmalaya, Bogor and even from Surabaya. This shows that the passion and interest of the youth in following the ENJ activities is increasing day by day, “explained Suhendar, at the end of the interview.
