LOMBOK. One of the Rumah Zakat programs during the post Lombok earthquake recovery and rehabilitation is temporary housing construction or shelter for earthquake victims. For the first stage Rumah Zakat will build 100 shelters at the evacuation posts in Menggala Hamlet, Pemenang Village, Pemenang Subdistrict, North Lombok Regency on land owned by the local government.
The Crisis Center of Rumah Zakat, Andri Murdianto explained that one temporary house can be occupied by 5 to 6 people with a 4.5 x 4.6 meter building area consisting of 2 bedrooms and 1 family room. In the process of making it – continued Andri – the surrounding community was involved.
“We use the resources available here as much as possible, for example, we use the walls of the rooms which are woven directly by the local people, besides that we also use the residents to make shelter. This has a direct impact on community empowerment and also adds to people’s income, “said Andri.
Later in this shelter complex will be built other public facilities, such as emergency mosques, emergency schools, health services, and public toilets.
“Alhamdulillah, the shelter is built according to the schedule, comfortable to be occupied. In building this, not just the physical building we pay attention to, but we also consider the humanizing factors of humanity and the potential for empowerment, “added Widodo, facilitator of Rumah Zakat assigned to Lombok.
If later the rehabilitation period is complete and the conditions of the residents have returned to normal and can return to their homes, this temporary shelter will function as a cottage for tourists.
“This temporary shelter in the future can be functioned as a cottage for tourists, this can also be one of the tourism potential so that it can empower citizens” said Andri.
