SENTANI, Tuesday (01/10) – The incident that took place in Wamena, Kab. Jayawijaya, Prov. Papua on Monday (09/23) threatened the feeling of security and comfort for many residents of the City of Wamena and pushes them to flee to Sentani or Jayapura, a distance of 244 km to 256 km. Rumah Zakat came down and assisted the refugee camp in Sentani, Papua.
Rumah Zakat assisted in the activity of collecting data on aid and refugees, trauma healing, and distribution of mats, blankets, pillows, and towels for the refugees at the Refuge Post in Sentani, Papua.
This incident that befalls became a trauma for Wamena citizens who had to leave their hometown, especially children. Rumah Zakat held a psychosocial assistance activity and children were invited to play to relieve their trauma during the riots.
“There are about 15 children playing and following this psychosocial activity, the refugees also were provided help,” said Nugrah, Branch Manager of Rumah Zakat Jayapura.
