ACEH. Floods that hit Aceh North since last Wednesday (3/1), has caused 4 sub-districts submerged to floods up to 1 meter high. “Until Thursday afternoon (4/1), the flood in Kecamatan Matangkuli has not receded yet, the water level is still around 100 cm,” said Muhammad Surya, Facilitator of Rumah Zakat Village in Aceh.
Rumah Zakat distributes logistic assistance to 600 families affected by floods in Tumpok West Village and Punti Village in Matangkuli Subdistrict on Thursday (4/1). Aid distributed in the form of rice, cooking oil, eggs, biscuits, mineral water, sardines, baby supplies and medicines given directly to the Head of West Tumpok Village and Punti Village.
“Because many residents still survive in their respective homes, so we also distribute the aid to people’s homes by boat,” said Surya.
This Friday (5/1), Rumah Zakat team will try to distribute logistical aid to other areas that are still isolated. In addition, the team will also begin to help residents clean up public facilities such as schools and places of worship in areas where the water has started to recede.
