EMPOWERING EX-MIGRANT WORKERS THROUGH TRAINING OF PROCESSING FOODS

Rumah Zakat through the Facilitator of Empowered Village in cooperation with PKK and Manpower Office conducted food processing training for ex-migrant workers in Purworejo Empowered Village, Ringinarum Sub District, Kendal District, the training was held for 3 days (4-6 November).

“Processing corn and green beans into various snacks, this training was chosen because corn and green beans are agricultural products of Purworejo residents who always exist throughout the year” said Facilitator of Rumah Zakat, Hikmah Fitria Prabandari.

In this training, the woman are trained to make a variety of foods based on green beans and corn such as various peyek, corn chips, corn brownies, green beans brownies, corn wingko & kacang ijo wingko.

“This training is expected to encourage mothers to be entrepreneur, to be empowered and not to go abroad leaving children and husbands to earn for a living” added Hikmah.
