MAGELANG. Rumah Zakat rolled out the Waste Bank program in Bligo Village. According to Blitar Village Facilitator, Wimbo Abendhono, the program is motivated by the habit of residents who often throw waste into the river. The habit caused the Mataram river which is located near the residential area almost overflowing.
“Seeing the condition of the overflowing river Mataram, we feel this is a serious problem that must be immediately handled. So, since May 2016, we started with form a WasteBank and began to socialize to the residents about this Waste Bank program, “said Wimbo, Wednesday (20/9).
Although difficult, now people have started to feel the benefits of the Bank Waste. Customers of Waste Banks are not only composed of individuals but some institutions such as PAUD, waste products in Village Offices, PKK Groups, and printing offices in the Bligo Village area. This Waste Bank program once harvested up to 1 quintal of paper originating from the agency.
“Alhamdulillah this Waste Bank, in addition as a form of coaching for children, the benefits can be felt by all walks of life. The environment here is cleaner, people are also increasingly aware of the importance of maintaining the cleanliness and health of the surrounding environment, “said Ambar, Head of Dusun Benteng.
The existence of the Waste Bank in Bligo also supports the discourse of the establishment of a tourist village there. This is a long-term thinking of the Waste Bank management to build a tourist village.
“When we build a Tourism Village, then inevitably the waste problem will also soon we meet. But with this Waste Bank, then we are not confused again facing the problem of waste in the tourist village later, “said Wimbo.
