PONTIANAK. For the third time Rumah Zakat Pontianak carried out Superqurban Expedition on the remote island of Sumatera. By traveling the land and sea of the Expedition Team consist of 9 person must take 6 days to go to Betok Island, Betok Jaya Village Kepulauan District, Kayong Utara Regency, Sumatera and back to Pontianak City which should only take 4 days. This happens because the storm occurs when the Expedition Team sailed the ocean on a Ferry boat.
“We have to take a 6-day trip that targets 4 days due to bad weather and high waves, several times in our journey by rain and high waves and winds in the middle of the sea,” said Asrul, one of the members of the Expedition Team.
Arriving on Betok island after a long and quite depleted journey, Expedition Team directly welcomed by beautiful scenery of Betok island and the enthusiasm of the community. In this Expedition the Team brought 1000 corned Superquran and food packages, not only that the team also held Health Service and Circumcision Service for the children of Betok Village.
In Betok Jaya, this 270KK community lives in simple houses made of wood, the majority of the livelihoods of its citizens are fishermen and sailors. The village head of Betok Jaya expressed that in his are had ever conducted similar activities, therefore the expedition made people happy when they received health services and circumcision especially when receiving Kornet Superqurban and basic food.
“We are very pleased with the arrival of Rumah Zakat, there has never been such as giving donations of basic food and corned beef. It is rare for people to feel this, every day we eat fish and eggs. To get to the city the access is very difficult. We are very grateful to receive this assistance. All can definitely feel this”said Village Chief of Betok Jaya, Hasan.
