The fermented milk or yogurt stores a myriad of benefits for the body. Both good bacteria in yogurt, namely Streprococcus thermophilus and lactobacillus bulgaricus, are useful for reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder characterized by high blood glucose levels due to deficiency and insulin resistance. Every year, the number of this type diabetic is quite increasing.
Nutrition scientist Dr. Matthew Lantz Blaylock revealed, all types of yogurt can be consumed to prevent type 2 diabetes. At least more than 20 studies involving around 40 thousand people have proven this.
There is a sugar content, but it is balanced and can be beneficial, “Matthew said in the launch of the Greenfield Yoghurt Drink at Artotel Jakarta, Tuesday (3/19). According to Baylock, yogurt acts to rebalance sugar consumption due to unhealthy eating patterns. In addition, yogurt also plays a role in absorbing sugar produced from daily food.
“Good bacteria can help and improve the body’s power system and it can also contribute good bacteria to our lives,” he said.
However, Baylock suggested that people can be smart to choose yogurt products that will be consumed. Quality yogurt must come from fresh milk, have good bacteria that are still alive, and contain food fiber.
