TASIKMALAYA. The earthquake of 6.9 SR shook the southern part of West Java, Central Java, and DI Yogyakarta on Friday midnight (15/12) causing some areas such as Pangandaran, Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, Banjar, Garut, Cilacap, Kebumen, Pekalongan, Banyumas, Brebes and Banjarnegara were affected. The epicenter located at 6 km southeast of Bantarkalong City of Tasikmalaya Regency resulted in Tasikmalaya, Pangandaran and Ciamis being the most severely damaged areas.
Assyuhada Mosque in Kp. Kubangsari, Taman Jaya Subdistrict, Taman Sari District, Tasikmalaya also collapsed due to the earthquake. There is no roof left on the 2nd floor of the mosque which is used daily by about 100 children to study after Maghrib to Isha.
Sunday (17/12), Volunteers and Care for disaster action helping to clean the debris with residents. The series of actions will continue, according to the assessment and priorities for disaster victims.
“We help the residents to clean up the debris of Assyuhada Mosque, Insya Allah action will be done in accordance with the assessment result” Sujay Saputra, Rumah Zakat’s Volunteer said.
