SLOW BUT DEFINITELY, FISHERMEN PROGRAMS ENHANCED THE FISHERMEN ECONOMY IN THE VILLAGE OF NORTH MALUKU

Dedeta, North Maluku (04/11). Through the Facilitator of Desa Berdaya (Empowerment Village), Rumah Zakat rolled out the empowerment program of “Empowered Fishermen” in the village of Dedeta, North Halmahera district, North Maluku in developing the economic improvement of the community by utilizing the local potential.

Slowly but surely an extraordinary journey to build the Empowering Fishing Boat program in Dedeta Village, North Halmahera District, North Maluku is now growing. Even though they have to wait more than one year, finally the program can be realized.

“The establishment of this business is aimed at providing benefits for fishermen who have been struggling to sell catches fish,” said Siti, Rumah Zakat Facilitator.

In the future, it is hoped that these containers can continue to accommodate the concerns of fishermen so far, namely buying, paying and distributing fish to the city. Because all this time although fish are abundant, there is a need for fish in the city, there are boats but there is no proper “container” to manage these fishes.

“Usually there are containers, but they are from outside the village. They buy the fish here, pay later after selling to While the family at home needs to eat. Often the fish that have been bought are taken away, “vented Mukaram Rakib, one of the fishermen assisted by Rumah Zakat. He is an accomplished fisherman who depends on the sea. Now besides being a fisherman, Mukaram is also trusted by BUMMas (Community-Owned Enterprises) of the Empowered Village to manage the container business.

“Thank you to all those who have been willing to help this kindness program. May Rumah Zakat and all donors be given the blessing of life by Allah SWT. “Aamiin” said Mukaram.
