SURABAYA. (13/08) RZ Surabaya Volunteers collaborate with Care For Teens team held a commemoration of 71th Indonesia independence day conducting some race, the race time is different from 17’s race in general as eating crackers, marbles and other race, but this race contains agility contest in making litters, treating wounds in the head and lifting techniques victims and how to bier.
Because such lessons are not taught in school, so before the race started the volunteers in advance told how to do these things.
To help the participants were divided into four groups where each group accompanied by a mentor. “Not only assist, mentor also explained and practiced for 30 minutes on what they should do. After the explanation and then continued to the practice and each group sent five people to represent the class in the race. “Said Andre, Volunteer coordinator of RZ Surabaya,
The competition that followed by 7A – 7G class run for 1 hour won by 7B class consisting of Nisa ‘, Ubed, Tiara, Marcel, and Rahman.
Stretcher they made is very sturdy, the knot is very good and certainly can function properly, the way they wrap the wound also correct. Which becomes an evaluation in almost all competitors are lifting victim techniques from land to a stretcher that was still wrong. But for Junior high school students it is a very valuable knowledge.
This event is very useful not only as entertainment or race alone but there is a knowledge that they can apply and useful to them and those around them later if they assist.
“Hopefully in the future after this race, our volunteers could come back to share knowledge, especially knowledge that is useful in everyday life,” said Andre.
