[:ID]RIDHA SEORANG IBU [:en]A MOTHER’S HAPPINESS[:]

Inilah kisah tentang Al-Qamah. Dia sesungguhnya termasuk seorang sahabat Rasulullah SAW. Sejak masa muda, ia dikenal saleh.

Tak sampai hati ia membiarkan ibunya mengambil air.

Keadaan mulai berubah sejak dia berumah tangga.

Hanya diam saja. Orang sekitar pun tak tahu bahwa ibu Al-Qamah sebenarnya sakit hati.

Tahun demi tahun berlalu. Terbetik kabar bahwa Al-Qamah sakit. Sakitnya pun kian hari kian bertambah berat.

Para sahabat yang berjaga-jaga bersedih. Sebab, Al-Qamah tampak seperti mau meninggal. Mereka silih berganti untuk membacakan talqin.

“Laa ilaaha illallaah …”

Mendengar sikap tegas Rasul, menangislah sang ibu, “Wahai Rasulullah, maafkan saya ya Rasul. Jangan anak saya dibakar.

This is a story about Al-Qamah. He was indeed one of the companions of the Rasulullah SAW. Since he was in his youth, he was recognized as being soleh, Loyal, pious, and obedient toward his religion.

Al-Qamah is always seen in the first row between other companions during prayer. He is also known to be very polite toward his mother.

His father has passed away, everything that his mother needs, he did not ignore. He even did not dare for his mother to take her own glass of water.

The situation changed when he have a family of his own. After Al-Qamah married and lived in his own house –with or without purpose—his services for his mother have decreased.

However, the mother did not report nor complain. She kept her voice quite. Others did not even know that Al-Qamah’s mother was lonely and her heart was hurt by her son’s action.

Years passed, and news about Al-Qamah was heard. News that he was sick and his sickness get worse every passing day.

His friends and other companions have prepared themselves to be sad, because Al-Qamah’s time seems to be coming to an end. They all take turn to read him the talqin.

“Laa ilaaha illallaah …”

However, what happen?! They tried repeating for several times, Al-Qamah’s tongue was frozen in place, it did not tremble, and it did not try to repeat after them.

One of the companions reported the situation to Rasulullah SAW. Rasulullah SAW came immediately.

Rasulullah SAW ordered a companion to pick up Al-Qamah’s mother.

After that, the prophet asked the mother, “What did he do to earn himself this?”

Al-Qamah’s mother replied that her son is a good person and is obedient toward Allah. But at the end the mother finally revealed and poured her heart out.

“O Prophet, I am sad. After my son married and has a family of his own, his attention towards me was very little, that is why I do not forgive him,” she confesses.

“If that is so,” said the prophet, “come my companions, gather wood so we can burn Al-Qamah.”

Hearing the serious and firm attitude of the Prophet, the mother cried, “ O Prophet, forgive me O Prophet. Please do not burn my son. O Prophet, I plead to you, please do not. I already forgive Al-Qamah. I already forgave him.

After the word “forgive” rolled out of the mother’s tongue, spontaneously Al-Qamah’s tongue flexed. He was able to recite and finish the talqin and as soon as he finishes, he passed away peacefully.

Al-Qamah nearly did not enter in the circle of those who the Prophet SAW mentioned. The Prophet mention that, “No servant that Allah SWT gifted with fortune then did not fulfill his rights toward both of his parents, only Allah erase his good deeds and punish with the harshest punishment.”

This story is a reflection for us all. True that someone said that there are no difficulties to do filial piety toward our father and mother. Because one is too busy tending to their own family’s needs, in addition to fulfilling our wife’s demand, without any intention we forget our own mother.

Especially if our wife does not care or do not like their mother-in-law, it is very possible that the husband cannot serve his mother. May we all be released from bad or sinning attitudes towards our parents.
