RUMAH ZAKAT ACTION DEPLOY VOLUNTEER FOR MANADO FLOOD

MANADO. (1/2) Rain that flushed North Sulawesi since January 31, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. resulted in an increase in the number of water discharges in several disaster-prone locations in the city of Manado, which has continued to pour down the city, causing some villages to be flooded, the water level varies between 30 cm to 1.5 M.

 

Other conditions besides the increase in water discharge there are also several landslide points, and there are dead victims. Until now it’s still raining flushed the city of Manado with moderate to heavy intensity.

 

Responding to this condition, the Rumah Zakat Action volunteer team immediately took action to evacuate the residents. The Volunteers broke through a puddle of 1.5 meter high water with a rubber boat to be able to save the residents who were trapped in the flood. The five volunteers also immediately coordinated with related parties. In addition, they also carry out the latest need assessment.

“From the results of the report, there are at least some urgent needs that are needed at this time such as ready-to-eat food, blankets, baby food, clothing, and lighting,” said Fai, Field coordinator for Bajir Manado.

Until now Rumah Zakat Action volunteer team continues to carry out comprehensive evacuation and disaster management actions for the Manado flood. Until this news was revealed based on the results of the flood monitoring, it had submerged several road segments such as Jalan Tikala, Sarlo, and Kairagi which headed towards the airport. In addition, this flood also damaged several houses in the area of ‚Äč‚ÄčTikala Baru, Teling Atas, and Marketers. Floods also caused a number of fallen trees, such as on the front road of the Merdeka Kodam Teling Atas and Jalan Purnomo.
