YOGYAKARTA – Emergency recovery and repair status due to the earthquake in Lombok and has been established for six months. Rumah Zakat sent five aid trucks to help with the recovery and repair process.
Based on the Decree of the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Number 360-686 Year 2018, the status of emergency transition to recovery and emergency repairs due to the earthquake in Lombok and Sumbawa has been determined. Namely, 26 August 2018 to 26 February 2019. That is, the process of rehabilitation and reconstruction in Lombok officially began. Responding to that, Rumah Zakat began to map the assistance provided, namely towards the recovery and improvement of Lombok’s condition.
“Rumah Zakat designed six main programs during the rehabilitation period,” said Branch Manager of the Rumah Zakat Yogyakarta, Warnitis, at the Yogyakarta City Hall, Wednesday (29/8).
There are shelter construction, establishment of emergency schools, establishment of emergency mosques, provision of health services and fleets, provision and assistance of business capital for earthquake affected residents, and provision of food security.
On Tuesday morning (29/8), Rumah Zakat again sent five trucks of assistance to Lombok. Assistance sent in the form of logistics and food aid such as kidsware, blankets, mats, tarpaulins, rice and food alert packages.
“All of this assistance comes from donators and partners of Rumah Zakat, which is a non-cash contribution, incidentally the logistics and food needs in Lombok are very urgent at this time,” said Warnitis.
It was found from the report of the development of Rumah zakat volunteers who had been in Lombok since the first earthquake. Moreover, the prices of goods there are very high, so this assistance is believed to be very beneficial.
Four trucks assisted by the Rumah Zakat were directly released by Rumah Zakat Board of Trustees, Yayan Somantri, from the West Java Representative Office. Meanwhile, one aid truck departed from the Rumah Zakat Yogyakarta office.
Truck assistance is targeted to arrive in Lombok on Saturday (1/9). Warnitis hopes that the rehabilitation program and assistance programs sent by Rumah Zakat can help the people of Lombok.
“To get back up and be able to live their lives independently and powerfully,” said Warnitis.
