LOMBOK. The handling of the earthquake disaster in West Nusa Tenggara has entered the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction phase, where in this phase infrastructure and economic development began. Therefore Rumah Zakat took part in helping the government in the recovery process.
“We rolled out five main programs in this phase, namely the construction of shelters (temporary housing), construction of emergency schools, construction of mosques, construction of communal toilets, and empowered market development,” explained CEO of Rumah Zakat, Nur Efendi.
“The main goal is that we want to restore the empowerment of the people of West Nusa Tenggara that were destroyed by the 7.0 SR earthquake last August,” he added.
To rebuild NTB on an ongoing basis, Rumah Zakat also inaugurated the Empowered Village (Desa Berdaya) in Pamenang Barat Village, North Lombok Regency on Wednesday, October 24, 2018.
“Desa Berdaya is a sustainable village empowerment program by integrating a family of empowerment programs in one area consisting of the main programs in the form of economic empowerment and capacity building, and supporting programs that include education, health, and environment programs,” explained Rumah Zakat’s Chief of Program Officer, Murni Alit Baginda.
“We are targeting to be able to build 3 Empowered Villages in West Nusa Tenggara until the end of 2018 in North Lombok, West Lombok and Sumbawa Regencies,” she said.
SUPERQURBAN BECOME PART OF SUSTAINABLE EMPOWERMENT
Superqurban is a qurban optimization program by processing qurban meat into ready-made food in the form of corned beef and rendang which can be distributed throughout the year.
Since the earthquake disaster emergency response phase was rolled out in NTB, Rumah Zakat has distributed 78,000 of the 100,000 Superqurban packages to meet the food needs of affected residents.
“Superqurban is not only an effective solution to meet food needs during a disaster, but also a solution to meet the needs of sustainable food,” said Murni.
“With the empowerment of villages, we will not only carry out economic empowerment, but also monitor the fulfillment of citizen nutrition, one of which is to periodically distribute Superqurban,” she concluded.
