BANJARMASIN, Wednesday (10/16) – Rumah Zakat Action distributes clean water assistance to residents of Salat Makmur Village, Kec. Beruntung Baru, Kab. Banjar, South Kalimantan.
Although some areas in South Kalimantan have been raining lately, in fact in this area residents are still having trouble getting clean water.
Residents’ wells and trenches that are commonly used for daily use still look drought. One source of water can only be obtained from boreholes, but the quality cannot be used for consumption.
To get clean water, residents must buy it from mobile water vendors who come directly from neighboring cities. To buy water, the price is set at Rp 2,500 per jerry can. But of course, not everyday residents can buy water.
The presence of living water assistance in the village of Salat Makmur was greeted with emotion by the residents, the mothers flocked to fetch water that was distributed directly by volunteers.
“Of course we are very grateful for this clean water assistance. At least this can help us,” said Mrs. Arniah, one of the beneficiaries. She said, for daily needs at her home she could at least spend up to five jerry cans per day.
The distribution of clean water was accompanied directly by the head village of Salat Makmur, Mr. Zaini. “On behalf of the residents, I thank you for the care Rumah Zakat shows, which has already brought in water for our residents,” he said.
