PEKANBARU. Health education about Dangers of Infectious Diseases presented by Dr. Rini Hakikah Lubis on Tuesday (01/11) became spectacular in SD Champion Pekanbaru. The reality of everyday life experienced by Students mainly on disease parotitis are known to the public with “Baguag”, it is a disease caused by a virus that is characterized by swelling on the bottom of the ear, or on “Parotid Gland”. Therefore, the disease is called parotitis.
“The disease is transmitted through air by Mumps virus which is happening around the world, more common in children aged 5-9 years. Parotitis is an inflammation of the parotid gland. Inflammation in this gland can be caused by viruses, bacteria, autoimmune or a combination of the etiology. The incubation period of the virus happens for 12-25 days, usually 16-18 days. So although I does not look sick, the patient has been able to transmit the virus to others. ” Said Dr. Rini Hakikah Lubis.
In addition to disease parotitis, he also explained the Measles and Smallpox. The difference lies in the cause of this disease and its effects on the body. So he advised the participants Didik Grades 4, 5, and 6, and Mr / Ms Teachers who accompany, to increase endurance so as to avoid the transmission of the disease.
