LOMBOK. Education is very important for all people, including children. No exception is education for children displaced by the Lombok earthquake victims. In order to make children remain in school and gain knowledge, one way to fulfill it is to establish Emergency Schools in the refugee camp of Kandang Kaoq Hamlet, Tanjung District, North Lombok Regency.
According to Rumah Zakat Volunteer who is in charge of trauma healing, Ranum (25), improving children’s self-confidence so they are not afraid of schools after the earthquake is not easy, because trauma and fear of entering a room or school building are still high.
“With this emergency school is expected to make children feel comfortable learning and playing and not to miss learning,” she said.
Although these children must live in appalling conditions, at least their smiles and cheerfulness have begun to return, even without uniforms and and desks in this emergency school.
