Cucumbers are best stored at room temperature and not in the refrigerator.
A study conducted at the University of California, Davis, stated that cucumbers are sensitive to temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. When stored at room temperature, cucumbers grow and last longer. Stored below 10 degrees, they will quickly rot.
But if you really insist want to present cucumbers in cold conditions, limit it, do not store it more than three days and consume cucumbers as soon as possible. Do not forget to put a cucumber in front of the refrigerator shelves which getting warmer temperatures and lower shelf parts, which is usually the coldest part of the refrigerator.
One more thing to remember is that the cucumbers are very sensitive to ethylene, a natural gas which causes certain foods cook faster. You are advised to keep cucumbers on the table but still make sure to keep them apart from bananas, tomatoes, and melons, which all result in higher ethylene gas.
