BATAM. “The establishment of urban farming has supported the preservation of environment and it has also given many advantages for us,” a local resident of Mangsang Village, said.
Last month was a great day for the residents of Mangsang Village since they finally harvested some nutritious vegetable from their own urban farming named Kembang Rejo. Kembang Rejo is a farm that has been established through Urban Farming program intervened by RZ.
In this program the members learn how to create Hydroponic Farm and utilize vacant land. In addition, they also have been trained how to manage waste bank and biopori.
There were some members who participated in harvesting. “Alhamdulillah, the program ran well and fun,” Rusmin, a mentor from RZ, said.
Rusmin also said that this program is implemented to introduce Urban Farming and educate them productive ways in preserving environment and utilizing vacant land. ***
