Rumah Zakat began work in Turkey from 2016 and sent volunteers to Turkey which arrived in Kilis town, Gaziantep province, southern Turkey by December 23, 2016. This area is a Syrian refugee camp in Kilis city; those living in this refugee camp are people of Aleppo who managed to get out of Syria and found refuge in Turkey.
When arriving in the refugee camp, Rumah Zakat Volunteers directly meet Syrian children and the refugee children welcomes the volunteers warmly and enthusiastically. Every effort and tiredness are wiped away when seeing those children smile.
In Kilis camp there are about 150,000 Syrians displaced since the beginning of the tragedy until today. “150,000, according to official records, but the number could be more than that. These aid packages are to be mobilized for refugees who continued to arrive from Syria to Turkey. It is estimated there will be more refugees coming from Syria to the Turkish border. We plan to contribute to welcome them,” said Herlan Wiland Ariansyah, Rumah Zakat Volunteer.
Until now, Rumah Zakat continues to deliver aid packages in the form of baby food, emergency food, warm clothes, shelter equipment and many more.
