If there are people who berate or invite a fight, say ‘I’m fasting’, “(Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim).
This hadith awakens us that the month of Ramadan is a spiritual gift for all Muslims in the world to make a change from the bad deeds and habits to become a better person. We must be able to resist anger because, anger will not be able to solve the problem, even it makes things worse, especially if holding anger while fasting, will get a lot of reward from Allah. Allah said, “Those are who restrain their anger and forgive others’ faults. Allah loves those who do good”(Surah Ali Imran : 134).
We can realize that no human can escape this anger. Because of anger is the nature of human, and the grace of Allah SWT. But still this anger must be controlled and not accompanied by passions that bring evil.
Allah Almighty believes, “Lust is inclined to send to evil except the lust of grace,” (Surah Yusuf : 53).
Regarding this, the Prophet (sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) has been counseling us: “A strong man is not the one who can bring a person to the ground, but one who can control himself when he is angry,” (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim).
Dear readers, Allah and the Apostle have told us to restrain as much as possible. Therefore, to perfect the fast we are doing, let’s let go of all our bad behavior all this time. Make the momentum of this Ramadan we are more patient, refined in speech, more affection to others, and the more virtuous kind. Hopefully in this year’s Ramadan, we can achieve an eternal victory that is heaven.
