LOMBOK. Construction of a temporary shelter for families affected by the earthquake in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara has begun since 3 September 2018. Construction of the Shelter is one of the rehabilitation programs rolled out by Rumah Zakat to help NTB get back up.
“The shelter that we build is a semi-permanent house with 2 bedrooms and 1 family room. Made of woven bamboo, the roof is zinc and the floor is cement, “explained Rahmad Widodo, Volunteer Rumah Zakat.
The first Rumah Zakat’s Shelter complex was built in Menggala Hamlet, Pemenang Barat Village, Pemenang Subdistrict, North Lombok Regency with an area of 5,700 m2.
“The current obstacle is that there are still many refugee tents in the shelter construction area. So, we have to adjust the position of the shelter construction so as not to disturb the refugees, “said Widodo.
