MAKASSAR. Saturday (7/3), Hasna, a volunteer of RZ, met some junior volunteers in Makassar. In this opportunity, she invited them to create various works from clay.
Clay is a fine-grained natural rock or soil material that combines one or more clay minerals with traces of metal oxides and organic matter. Clays exhibit plasticity when mixed with water in certain proportions. When dry, clay becomes firm and when fired in a kiln, permanent physical and chemical changes occur. These changes convert the clay into a ceramic material.
They were taught how to shape clay into interesting and unique souvenirs. Hasna expected that the training could improve their creativity and moreover they could earn additional income from selling their own works. ***
