The majority of the world’s population considers instant noodles to be the main food, like rice which is very popular in Asian countries. Preparing instant noodles only takes a short time. This is what makes it easy for students, parents and full-time workers to make something that doesn’t require a lot of effort.

However, instant noodles cannot be categorized as healthy food. Although there are common myths like adding vegetables to a cup of instant noodles can increase nutritional value, the problem that can be caused is something that cannot be overcome with raw food.

Medical Daily reported three reasons why instant noodles are unhealthy foods.

  1. Difficult to digest.

Instant noodles suppress the digestive system because these foods take hours to digest. That’s why instant noodles can interfere with blood sugar levels and insulin release if consumed too fast. Instant noodles encourage digestion to slow down.

In the long run, this can cause overexposure of the hydroxyanisole granules and t-butyl hydroquinone. These two chemicals are commonly used in products to extend the expiration date and preserve food. Both can cause anxiety, asthma, and diarrhea.

2. Heart disease risk

In a study by the Journal of Nutrition, it was revealed that people who consume instant noodles, not in moderation, have a higher risk of developing metabolic syndrome. A series of symptoms include experiencing high blood pressure, low HDL cholesterol levels, and a higher chance of heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.

3. Contains a lot of salt

Instant noodles contain a lot of salt which can affect one’s overall health. In a study published by the American Journal of Hypertension in 2014, revealed the effects of salt consumption. Consumption of salt-rich foods was recognized as one of the main factors in the high mortality rate in the last 23 case studies. Natrium
