Current bubble tea drinks are in the middle of such high demand. Besides being delicious, there are also many variants. But beware, true bubble tea drinks contain high sugar.
“Such drinks can indeed be up to 200 calories and the sugar is high in just one glass,” said Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division, DKI Jakarta Health Department, Dr. Dwi Oktavia Handayani MEpid after the launch of the campaign “Early Detection and Limit Fatty Salt Sugar to Prevent Diabetes” organized by Nutrifood in collaboration with Sumber Alfaria Trijaya in Jakarta, recently.
Consumption of sugar in a day must be limited. The healthy portion does not have a standard, but the principle is that sugar consumption is to be no more than four tablespoons in 24 hours.
“One should reduce sugar levels by asking for less sugar so that the portion of sugar is not as much as the standard. There are also those using artificial sweeteners,” said Dwi.
Bubble tea does not only have high sugar. The bubble or the pearl itself is already made from flour which is a source of carbohydrates.
