TANGERANG. August 17 was a special moment for all Indonesian people, because on that date President Soekarno proclaimed Indonesia’s independence throughout the world. Exactly on August 17 2018 the 73rd Birthday of the Republic of Indonesia, In order to enliven the Indonesian Independence Day celebration, SD Juara Tangerang together with the Rumah Zakat Tangerang Volunteers held various types of competitions. This race is themed “Energy of Happiness for the Nation”.
It is hoped that this competition can spread happiness to everyone. The types of competitions include coloring competitions, competition to move flags into bottles, eating crackers, enggrang relay competitions, water relay competitions (between groups) and water parade competitions (between classes). Participants who take part in the competition are students in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade.
Thursday (8/16) After morning habituation activities, including morning assembling, tahsin and tahfidz Quran and dhuha prayers in congregation, around 10:00 a.m, Students carry out coloring competitions in the classroom. With the direction of volunteers the students color the sketches of the pictures given by volunteers. After the coloring competition for elementary students in Tangerang Champion went out of the classroom guided by the homeroom teacher and volunteers to the school yard, they continued all the races in a row. By wearing a red and white headband, the students were very enthusiastic to participate in all competitions.
At 12.00 WIB the race was over, Students change clothes that are already wet with clothes that are brought from home. After the midday prayer, the snacks were distributed to all students, then the announcement of the winners of the water relay competition and the distribution of prizes.
“The competition was so exciting and fun, especially when the water relay competition and water parade competition, we were soaking wet” Said Dimas, one of the 3rd graders.
There are many lessons to be learned from the various types of competition. Not only to foster a sense of love for Indonesia’s homeland, students can instill courage, perseverance, hard work, and mutual cooperation, as well as cohesiveness in achieving their goals.
